How to use makeup with Perfec-Tone Products

Perfec-Tone is on a mission to help millions of people feel great about their skin. Last week, we discussed makeup vs skincare. Don’t get us wrong; we are not anti-makeup. In fact, we’re not anti-anything that helps people feel good about the skin they are in. Our philosophy is about helping our clients achieve their skin goals so that they can wear makeup because they enjoy it, not because they are trying to hide their skin.

By now you’ve learned that sleeping with your face in your pillow with a full face of makeup suffocates and clogs your pores. But what’s even worse is that you’re missing out on applying targeted skin care products before the best long, restful stretch of time when it can deeply penetrate, without adverse effects from sun exposure. Bedtime is prime time for deep moisturizing, fighting future lines, plus treating your lips, cuticles, heels, and other problem areas. If you’re not diligent about night moisturizer and eye cream by age 30, you’ll have serious catching up to do.

Perfec-Tone’s Tips for Gorgeous Skin

So what else would we suggest when it comes to makeup and skincare?

Reduce the amount of layers
The trend now is to layer on the foundation, concealer, blusher, highlighter, contour, and finishing powder. More important than those layers, are the ones that include (after washing of course!) toner, moisturizer, serum, and primer. Some argue that makeup creates a protective barrier between skin and bacteria and germs in the air; however, using moisturizers and other products that hydrate and renew skin creates that protective barrier, while working for your skin.

Wear non-comedogenic makeup
When you have acne-prone skin, trying to find makeup products that don’t make you break out is tricky. There are many factors to consider when you’re dealing with acne, but makeup alone is not to blame. Of course, that is considering that you are thoroughly removing ALL your makeup every night. It’s possible that certain types of makeup can worsen breakouts.

You’ve no doubt seen the phrase “non-comedogenic,” which means that these particular products have been specially formulated to not clog pores. Also keep in mind as a general rule, the thicker the product, the more likely it is to be pore-clogging.

Get the most out of your moisturizer
Skin moisturizers may be the most important part of your morning routine, protecting and hydrating your skin while ensuring an even and long lasting application of your makeup. While in the process of restoring skin, and after restoration to maintain it, we suggest using our Refining Crème or Resurfacing Crème to help you achieve and keep your ideal skin.

Refining Crème is formulated with potent essential anti-aging ingredients to repair cell growth plus Vitamin A and Lemon Oil that work to refine skin’s tone and texture. With daily use, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly softened. It is the perfect moisturizing product to wear daily under makeup to keep skin soft and smooth.

Overnight, Resurfacing Crème works to revitalize skin while you sleep. Our highly-active night cream fortified with natural minerals and Vitamin A delves deep into skin’s layers to exfoliate dull, dry cells, eliminate dark marks, reduce acne, and help repair signs of aging. Overnight, your skin undergoes a gentle resurfacing that visibly changes its look and feel.

Double down on washing
Cleansing your skin twice ensures thorough removal of makeup. This is best when immediately followed with an application of Perfec-Tone’s Clarifying Gel or Purifying Toner, and then the Refining Crème or Resurfacing Crème.

How many times have you washed your face and then swiped your toner-soaked cotton ball just to see left-over residue? Even for sensitive skin, double cleansing is a great system to get rid of all of your day’s grime, dirt, debris, pollution, and makeup. It’s best to use a cleansing oil first, then our gentle Exfoliating Cleanser. Using with a facial buff or a facial brush that doesn’t make complete turns (they harm your skin) will be more beneficial.

Avoid having makeup done professionally
Professional makeup artists use brushes and other tools that are reused on clients throughout their work day. And while we’d like to believe brushes are being thoroughly cleaned between customers, you cannot be certain that the makeup being used is non-comedogenic. This can be a major cause of breakouts.

Avoid sweating while wearing makeup like going to the gym
Because pores open while sweating, you don’t want to block your skin’s ability to breathe with heavy makeup. This can lead to irritation and breakouts. Working out will make you sweat but it doesn’t accelerate oil (sebum) production. That being said, avoid touching your face, particularly if you have active breakouts. Wash Immediately with your Exfoliating Cleanser.

How to Prevent Blemishes in the First Place

It’s important to note that preventing blemishes is the best way to make sure your makeup is picture perfect and you look your best. We offer many services to clear (which minimizes) pores, and hydrate skin for elasticity.

Many of our clients choose microdermabrasion as a service because of its proven results. It can improve acne-prone skin, remove some scars caused by pimples and blemishes, reduce wrinkles and unwanted signs of aging, and smooth enlarged pores.

Perfec-Tone Facials are results-driven. Not only do facials treat acne and acne scars, the exfoliating treatment paired with extractions clears pores, allowing pores to get smaller in size, tightening and firming skin. Facials also address razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and oily skin. All of these improve circulation, detoxifies, and hydrates – improving skin’s ability to absorb all of your Perfec-Tone skin care products.
