What the low ratings say

Of our reviews, 123 sit at three stars, 32 at two, and 108 at one. We do not hide them, sort them to the back, or ask anyone to take one down. If you are weighing this up, they are worth more of your time than the five star ones.

Our would-recommend rate sits well below our star average. We show the reviews rather than lead with that number, because the gap is real and we would rather you read the reasons than a percentage.

Two themes come up most often, and both have straight answers.

Peeling and irritation. Between day 4 and day 14 peeling is expected, and for some people it is heavier than they were prepared for. Burning, raw skin or swelling is not expected, and it means stop and contact us. Read the Retinol Rules before you start Step 2.

Worry about lightening. Nothing we make contains hydroquinone or any bleaching agent. Over-applying a spot product can leave a lighter ring around a treated mark, which is why Refining Creme in the morning is used to even it out.
