Common Mistakes

Stop doing this — it's blocking your results

Skipping days because you "don't see results yet"
Melanin-rich skin takes 4–6 weeks minimum to show visible change. Consistency is the treatment.
Stacking multiple strong actives at once
Mixing retinol, acids, and vitamin C the same night creates irritation, not acceleration. One active at a time.
Stopping at the first sign of purging
Mild purging (small breakouts, some flaking) in weeks 1–2 means the product is working. Stopping resets the clock.
Using prescription tretinoin and Perfec-Tone retinol the same night
Never layer two retinoids within 24 hours. Tretinoin nights = tretinoin only. Non-tret nights = one Perfec-Tone retinol product.
Starting with too much, too fast
Pick one concern. Use one system consistently for 30 days. Add products only after your skin has adjusted.
Applying without SPF in the morning
Any active working on hyperpigmentation is cancelled out by UV exposure without SPF 30+ every single morning.
