Results don't happen overnight. Here's what's normal at each stage so you know when to push through and when to pause.

Week 1–2: Adjustment
Your skin is calibrating. Some initial dryness, mild sensitivity, or purging (small blemishes surfacing) is normal and expected — especially with active ingredients. This is not a reaction. Do not stop.

Week 3–4: Early Shift
The adjustment phase settles. Skin starts to feel smoother and more balanced. You may begin to notice early changes in tone or texture. Keep going — this is where consistency pays off.

Week 5–8: Visible Results
This is when most customers see meaningful change — fading, clearing, evening. Melanin-rich skin works on its own timeline. The customers who reach this point rarely stop.

Universal Retinol Rules
Non-negotiable guidelines for using retinol — especially on melanin-rich skin where irritation can leave a lasting mark.

Never layer retinoids within 24 hours
If you use prescription tretinoin, do not use any Perfec-Tone retinol product on the same night. Two retinoids in 24 hours means guaranteed irritation.

Pause if burning or raw skin appears
Mild dryness and light flaking are normal. Burning that doesn't stop, raw skin, or open irritation is not. Wash it off and contact us before continuing.

Always pair with sunscreen during the day
Retinol increases photosensitivity. SPF 30+ every morning, every day, is non-negotiable. Without it, you are actively undoing the treatment and risking worsening hyperpigmentation.

Build frequency slowly
Start 2x per week. Hold that for 2 weeks. Increase to 3x, then nightly only if skin tolerates it well. Pushing too fast doesn't accelerate results — it causes setbacks.
If you are on prescription tretinoin: Tretinoin nights = tretinoin + plain moisturizer only. Non-tretinoin nights can use ONE Perfec-Tone retinol product. Never layer retinoids within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Refining Crème: The Refining Crème is flaking and not being absorbed, what can I do?
This usually means that more product is applied than your skin can absorb (maximum absorption level). Please gently pat those areas with a damp paper towel to remove the excess.
Refining Crème: My Refining Crème has turned a different color. Is it still okay to use?
Yes, the Refining Crème can still be used but may not be as potent as initial purchase. When the product is not used for a long time or stored correctly, the product can become discolored. Please be sure to always store the product in a cool area.
Purifying Toner: Why can’t I use the Purifying Toner in the evening?
Our Resurfacing Crème and Spot Treatment are used in the evening ritual, both of which remove dead and damaged skin. The Purifying Toner is not best for use at that time as it can create some discomfort and irritation on newly exposed skin.
Purifying Toner: Is it normal to get a stinging/burning sensation after using the Toner?
It is possible that the skin is irritated either from the pressure applied while cleansing or the newly exposed skin from use of the Spot Treatment. To alleviate this, use less pressure when cleansing, and cease use of the Spot Treatment for 3 days, using only the Purifying Toner and Refining Crème after cleansing.
Purifying Toner: How do I know when to use the Purifying Toner and when to use the Clarifying Gel?
The Purifying Toner is best used in the morning ritual and is paired with the Refining Crème and Miracle Moisturizer (as needed). The Clarifying Gel is best used in the evening ritual since it would be applied while using the Resurfacing Crème or Spot Treatment and is less likely to cause discomfort or irritation to newly exposed skin. To increase skin cell regeneration, pair these products with our Revitalizing Serum.
Purifying Toner: Which product is better for oily skin The Purifying Toner or the Clarifying Gel?
The Purifying Toner. It is specially formulated to balance oil production, while removing acne-causing dirt and bacteria build up in the skin. Pair with our Miracle Moisturizer to help with skin hydration and alleviate over production of oil in the skin.
Spot Treatment: Who is the Spot Treatment for?
The Spot Treatment is designed to treat minor spots (no more than five (5)) and can be used by persons who have already undergone the entire skin restoration process, or for persons who have already achieved a flawless complexion and tone,
Spot Treatment: Do I need to wash off the Spot Treatment?
The Spot Treatment is applied directly onto the discolored area only and left to fully absorb into the skin.
Spot Treatment: Can I use the Spot Treatment on other areas of my skin?
The Spot Treatment is designed to treat minor marks or discoloration on your face (no more than 5 marks) only. For larger areas, use the Resurfacing Crème.

I can honestly say that persistence, patient, and endurance is needed when applying and using these products, even though they have great ingredients and they’re very potent you still need the patience because the results will show. I have never used a cleanser that has kept my skin clear. I’ve always used cleansers that have left me with bumpy skin or more as effective enough. And that also is a testament to the clarifying jealous as well, not to mention the resurfacing cream, when I tell you, my dark spots significantly faded from last year. The before, and after pictures are insane. I was using different products a different routine before and I was so upset with how my face looked, and then I switched back to perfect tone and literally here we are a year later, and my skin is completely clear besides a few of the uneven skin tone, I am very happy with these products.

You must have the resurfacing cream in your skin care regimen. I don’t typically have to use it as much now than when I started five years ago. But I always periodically use it. I don’t need to go to 14 days on two days off because I feel my skin is clear and it’s past that struggle stage but when I do feel like I have some hyper pigmentation and I just want the dead skin sales off I will revert back to utilizing the resurfacing cream. I have the entire face regimen. These products work. You have to have patience with yourself and you have to find the time to wash your face morning and evening every single day. This has been a must in my life. I don’t see how people don’t have time to wash their face even if you didn’t have a skin care regimen. Washing your face is equally important as brushing your teeth and cleansing your body. It’s all a holistic approach to true self-care.
